HOWARD'S END (pub. 1910) by the lovely brilliant English novelist E.M. Forster, who, incidentally was the nanny for Elizabeth von Arnim's children (she wrote Enchanted April, Elizabeth and Her German Garden and others) Small world in the early 1900's, having so much genius crossing paths. E.M. Forster was also part of the famous Bloomsbury Group headed by Vanessa Bell (Virginia Woolf's sister). He also wrote A ROOM WITH A VIEW but HOWARD'S END is considered to be his masterpiece. They're both absolutely wonderful. You've likely seen the movies (I hope, because they are so good), but the books are even better. Paperback.
"We must be willing to let go of the life we have planned, so as to have the life that is waiting for us." E.M. Forster
